Who Is Lip Filler Treatment For?
Lip fillers at MH Aesthetics are a fit for adults in the Toronto area who:
- Feel their lips are thinner than they'd like, or have lost volume over time
- Notice asymmetry or unevenness in their natural lip shape
- Want subtle definition rather than a dramatic change
- Are curious about fillers for the first time and want a conservative, natural-looking starting point
- Are already familiar with lip filler and are due for a top-up
Lip filler isn't recommended for anyone who is pregnant or has an active infection near the treatment area, or has a known allergy to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine. Melanie will review your health history during your consultation to confirm you're a good candidate.

Our Process
1. Consultation & Assessment We start with a conversation about your goals, lip anatomy, and any previous treatments. Melanie will walk you through filler options and set expectations for what's realistic for your lips.
2. Treatment Planning Together, you'll map out the injection points and volume that best suit your face shape. Subtle enhancement and balance are the goal, not overfilling.
3. The Injection A topical numbing cream is applied first for comfort. The filler is then injected in small, precise amounts using a fine needle or cannula. Most appointments take 30–45 minutes.
4. Aftercare & Follow-Up You'll leave with clear aftercare instructions covering the first 24–48 hours. Some swelling and tenderness is normal and typically settles within a few days. We're available for follow-up questions and check-ins after your appointment.
Curious About the Lip Flip Too?
Some patients ask about the Lip Flip, a Botox®-based treatment that subtly rolls the upper lip outward without adding filler volume. It's a different treatment with a different mechanism, and we cover it in detail on our dedicated Lip Flip page, including cost, longevity, and how it compares to filler.

Most hyaluronic acid lip fillers last six months to a year before the body gradually breaks them down. How long yours lasts depends on the specific product used, the amount injected, and factors like your metabolism.
Discomfort is generally mild. We apply a topical numbing cream before injecting, and most patients describe the sensation as a brief pinch or pressure rather than significant pain.
We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise, excessive sun or heat exposure, and alcohol for the first 24–48 hours. Some swelling is normal and typically improves within a few days.
The fillers we use are made from hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body that helps skin retain moisture and volume. Because it's naturally occurring and reversible, it's one of the more conservative options in cosmetic injectables.
